This procedure replicates the MSWord disk with its copy protection.

To write the MS-Word 1.15 images to a 360k floppy disk:

1) Start SCOPY.BAT. Set the following parameters:

    Drive: (A: or B:)
    Drive Type: 360k drive/disk
    Image filename: MWORD
    Scopy Options: Image to Disk

2) Press SPACE to write the data image.

3) Exit SCOPY when writing completes.

4) Start the U-FORMAT.EXE program.

5) Select #5 (Display Radix) from the U-Format menu and change to
    decimal display.

6) Select #4 (Display/Modify Disk Parameter Table) and set the
    following:

    #4 Bytes per sector = 001
#5 Highest sector number per track = 012
    #8 Formatting gap length = 010

All other values remain at the default settings.

    Quit to the main menu.

7) Select menu item #3 (Format a Non-Standard Track)

The program will ask if you intend to format a track with 12
    sectors. Answer = YES

The program will then ask for the following information:

    SIDE  =  1
DRIVE = (enter letter of the drive with the COPY disk)
    TRACK  =  39

The program will then prompt for the following information:

Physical Sector # Logical Sector # Sector Size
          1 1 1
          2 2 1
          3 3 1
          4 4 1
          5 5 3
          6 6 1
          7 7 1
          8 8 1
          9 9 1
         10 10 1
         11 11 1
         12 12 1

After pressing "enter" in response to the prompt, you may exit
    U-Format.

8) Start SCOPY again

9) Set the following parameters:

    Drive: (A: or B:)
    Drive Type: 360k drive/disk
    Image filename: MWPROT
    Scopy Options: Copy-No Format

10) Press Space to write the data.

11) You should see it write sectors 1-5, and 7-12 on track #39 side #1.
You may now exit SCOPY. Your Disk is now done.

Installing to a hard disk:

The included image was already used to install to a hard disk once, and will refuse
to do so again.

To work around this, change the fourth byte of MWCOPY1.COM from 03 to 01.

The copy program, however, will not correctly create the hidden MDA file on the hard
drive. The content of this file should be 256 bytes identical to sector 6, track 39,
head 1 of the floppy. Or use the MDA file provided in this archive.

It appears that once installed on a hard drive, Word will not check for the copy
protection on the floppy disk.
